Sewing Love

I love to sew, but I seriously haven't had the time in literally ages. 

When I dusted off my lovely trusty old machine I come to find out that storage ghosts have been playing with it and broke my backwards button. 

Eventually I need a new sewing machine. Studley thinks I can make mine work *which I can* but who doesn't want a new one.

Until then I continue to collect these LOVELY fabrics...which again...drives Studley INSANE! But whatever...it's my job.

But of course before I get it a machine I needed a dress. I have been shopping and shopping for pillow case dresses FOREVER. Mostly because when you see them you think "oh, gee. I could do that myself" or "um well that kind of looks tacky" and to be honest...some of these dresses out there are just that..."tacky". Cheap ribbon is used to tie up the sides? What ever happened to craftsmanship? Seriously?

So I continued to shop....and shop, and shop, and shop and shop...and then WAIT. What is this? The most adorable dresses in the fabrics I've been dying for...because let's be honest...they're gorgeous!

Which brings me to the point....Etsy is such a lovely place...

a place where I found Marissa Smith. 

The most brilliant, accommodating seamstress, I think, I have ever met!

I'm shopping for Hadleigh's birthday present. Literally on her birthday because I have been searching for weeks...and finally I see this picture. I'm in love. It's perfect. Then I say well shoot, I need it by next Sunday, I wonder if she can do it...

Wouldn't you know she could! 

This is my Hadleigh in her beautiful custom dress from Creative Bee. I love it. When I got it (literally 3 days after I paid for it) I just fell in love with it. The quality is just AMAZING.

The fabric is designer. 

It's everything you're looking for in a boutique style dress from a SAHM!

Here I sit with a HUGE grin on my face at saying it.

Well I was doing a creep on some blogs. Mostly just scanning since I really don't have the time right now to be playing on here. I have about 1983293472 orders to fill. I know I'm not complaining.

But I found this fabulous tutorial which I will be making a run to Target and Joann's to do this week.

Mostly because I HATE my lampshades with a passion currently. I think they're lame. And they're brown. Which is weird because my house is greys, blues, whites, and a red kitchen (soon to be blue).

But my lamp shapes are really just a hodge podge since they were meant for a different reason. I just acquired them and put them in my living room because I needed the light.

So I'm going to make this, but with a bleached burlap. Because you all  know I love me some burlap.

So what do you think? Are you as much in love with this lamp as me? Because I am freakin' dying to make it right now!

Simple & Sweet

Oh it's a glorious Friday!! Even if I have to say so myself. I've got orders rolling in...makes me happy...Hadleigh was just giggling away this morning for no reason other than I lifted her out of bed...too too cute!
It's just a good day...plus I've got plans this weekend to relax with Studley and just have a quiet & calm weekend...other than having 4 kids and family coming to hang out! ;)

Ok so...I'm lame and didn't get the tutorial up the other day. I'm not going to lie I've been crocheting my fingers to the bone plus Tommy & Brien haven't been feeling, what you would call....awesome...on top of that it is 23 degrees outside so I can't spray paint currently.

However not to disappoint I'm going to put up this darling little tutorial with pictures I have currently even though the frames are in black and not going to be in black when I'm done with them.

So I was thinking. I love fabric. It's addicting...cute prints and an array of colors you can't go too wrong with it...ok well that's not true...but if you like it then you can't go wrong. I like the idea of framing pieces of beautiful fabric. Not only is it pretty and timeless it's also changeable for the seasons or just when you get bored with it. I was thinking though....frames can get pretty pricey and currently I have better things to buy for my kids than ornate frames for my walls. So I was thinking. What would be an interesting little wall treatment without breaking the bank. Thank God for Michael's & Joann's.

Here you go.

You'll need:
Embroidery hoops (different sizes if you'd like)
Fabric *you can use quarters however depending on the size of your hoops)
Spray paint
Scissors

Super simple idea...great outcome.

Take your embroidery hoops apart. I only spray painted the outside piece...if you want to do both be my guest!







Measure your fabric. Lay straight on the table and place the OUTSIDE of the embroidery hoop on it. Draw a circle around the hoop giving it just a little over so it gets nicely tucked under and yet can be pulled tight.

 Place your fabric on the inside hoop....like soooooo.... :)

Have the outside hoop screwed tightly but not too tight it won't go on. Once you've done that slide it over the inside hoop and fabric. pulling the way you'd like. And tada you're done.






Complete the rest of the hoops you have and hang. I'm still waiting to hang mine until my hubby can get some more nails for me & oh yeah I can spray them WHITE! Ugh sometimes I dislike the freezing cold weather  we're having now. I hope you guys enjoy this cute little idea...
